GREASE THE MUSICAL
Congratulations to all of the sixth formers involved in the school production of Grease. It was a thoroughly enjoyable production and on a cold winter evening, its evocation of those sultry summer nights of 1950s America were particularly welcome.
I know how much the audiences enjoyed themselves and this is testament to the professional polish of the performance. Everything was handled so well: choreography, stage management, live band, wonderful ensemble pieces - as well as some very entertaining solo performances … and one particularly memorable duet.
It is great to see that sixth formers were involved in every element of the three performances: front of house, selling refreshments, playing music, handling the technical side of the production and – of course - making up most of the cast.
Thank you to site and IT staff for the role they played in making the production such a success – and especially to Mr House and to Mrs Brownley for all the hours they put in after school to give students the opportunity to be part of something so joyous!
Additional write-up from student reporter, Megan C:
Students performed Grease the Musical over three evenings to great acclaim and sell-out audiences. Many students from across the school took part, performing on stage, in the orchestra and also behind the scenes. Rosa M and Louis G played Sandy and Danny, giving wonderful performances along with the whole cast.
Hedi H, who played Rizzo, said: “It was a great opportunity and I made friends with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise.”
The cast of Grease, and all those who watched it, gave Head of Drama Mrs Brownley a massive "thank you" for organising the amazing production.
